About 5 years ago Tobias met an older couple that always goes to the hospital for lunch. After talking to them a few times, he became their handy man and friend! He helped them with whatever they needed.
John was a POW during WWII. His B-17 Bomber was shot down and he was held at Sta lag 17 in Krems, Austria for 13 months. He suffered several broken bones and had lost a lot of weight during that time. He was later recalled (by accident) during the Korean War. He is an amazing man!
His dear wife Rose died a few years ago, leaving him all alone. He has been sick, off and on through the last 2 years. Not to burden Rose's two daughters he often calls Tobias to help him out with things. They have gotten really close. Last year Tobias drove John to a wedding in Montana that he needed to go to, Tobias loved every minute of it!
In a less than a week Tobias and John will be on there way to a POW reunion in Missouri. They are both very excited! Talking to John is like living in a history book, amazing! This may be the last reunion for these men, they're dwindling in numbers. I hope they have the time of their lives. Stay tuned for the pictures and blog post from the upcoming trip.
