The name of this entry could also be "Bad A## Bikers"! LOL, it still makes me laugh! As some you may know Tobias got a new motorcycle...his DREAM BIKE! We bought it from a guy in Orem a month ago. It's registered out of the state of Arizona.
Anyways on to the story....
A couple of Saturdays ago we got a babysitter and planned a little ride out to Orem. We went to Provo to meet up with a couple of friends. Our friend had to go, pick up his vest that was being repaired on Provo Center Street. It was taking awhile so we just walked around. Next thing I know the Provo parking enforcement "Idiot" was pulled up behind the parked bike. Tobias went to talk to him about the registration/title/bill of sale. The "Idiot" either called in the VIN or he typed it in, I'm not sure which. Well, guess what it came back as a STOLEN Green Yamaha Rhino. REALLY!!! Our friend Jeremy pipes up, "Yeah, it's a TRANSFORMER!"
Next thing we know another officer came and we explained the whole thing over. On this motorcycle the vin number is printed on the mirrors and also into the frame of the bike. Over and over they looked at the numbers on the bike and on the title. Finally they asked for Tobias's drivers licence. This is when is gets GOOD! Being so confused about our current situation, we forgot to tell the officer one VERY important piece of info. After 3 more officers show up within a few seconds, we wondered how much trouble we were really in?! They had there little pow-wow and the 1st officer, not the "Idiot" came to talk to us. "Your a CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMIT HOLDER!"
"Oh, S@%$" yes I said it! We forgot the number one rule about having our CWP, declare it the second your pulled over. Tobias instantly lifted up his arms and did a little spin so the officer could see that he wasn't packing. I instantly knew why all of those cops had shown up so quick and I'm really surprised we weren't in handcuffs. After explaining the situation again here came another officer to check out the stolen Rhino on center. The officer said, "that sucks, you bought a stolen bike!" Tobias says, "NO, I bought a stolen Rhino!" He looks at us and says, "WHAT?" Finally one "SMART" officer started to put 2 and 2 together. The vin is stolen but not the plate? He asked one of the officers to check them together, "THERE'S AN IDEA!"
Guess what? He came back and said, "I am soooooo SORRY about all this! He miss typed the vin number, you are free to go!"
Oh My Gosh, I couldn't stop laughing! This was just Tobias's luck!
This isn't the first time that a typo almost landed Tobias in jail. A few years back he got pulled over. When the officer typed in his DL# it came back to a guy with a felony warrant. He pleaded with the guy to type in the number again, once again it had been a TYPO!
Thank you to the "SMART" cop in the Dodge Charger that put 2 and 2 together! He really did keep us out of jail! Chris we were praying that it was you! They must give all the "SMART" cops the Chargers, right?
I forgot to mention the part where my sister Jane and her husband Lee pull up just to see her bad a$$ sister surrounded by cops.
